Xander Johns is a Saxophonist, Composer, and Music Producer, known for his eclectic, catchy, and dance-driven music that blurs the lines between conventional genres.

His extensive background in saxophone performance has led him on multiple international tours, performing at jazz festivals across France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Canada, Belgium, the USA, and notable venues/recording studios such as KNKX Public Radio, Lincoln Center, Jazz a Montreux, North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne Jazz Festival, Earshot Jazz Festival, Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, Benaroya Hall, and more.

​Xander has performed with the Seattle Symphony, as well as jazz luminaries including Carmen Bradford, Matt Brewer, Matt Wilson, Joe LaBarbera, Chad LB, Edward Simon, Warren Wolf, Michael Rodriguez, David Sanchez, Rodney Whitaker, and Vincent Gardner.

He currently produces electro-pop music under the moniker Xandrr, as well as Sundust, a collaboration with fellow producer Saezo that combines dazzling synth lines, bright bursts of saxophone, and vocal melodies that are impossible not to move to. Xander also leads the Xander Johns Quintet - a contemporary jazz ensemble. Xander composes works for multimedia including tv, advertisements, film, and videogames.

He is the recipient of the Waldo King Award, Outstanding Baritone Saxophone Award - issued by Wynton Marsalis, Bill Charlap, Jeff Hamilton, Todd Williams, Erica von Kleist, and the TACTok Award.

 

Xander is completing his BM in Technology and Applied Composition at the  San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied composition and saxophone under the tutelage of Chad LB, David Sanchez, Edward Simon, Steve Davis, and Lenny Kiser.
